E-Arrival confirmation never arrived: what travellers should know

If you submitted your India e-Arrival Card and the confirmation email never arrived, you’re not alone — but it’s a situation that requires immediate, careful action. The e-Arrival is mandatory for all eligible foreign nationals entering India by air or sea, and boarding may be denied without proof of submission.

Below, we outline clear, factual steps to take — based solely on verified information from the official process. We do not speculate, guarantee outcomes, or override official guidance.

First, verify your submission was completed

The most common reason for a missing confirmation is incomplete submission. On the official portal (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in), “submission” only occurs after you:

If you did not see the success screen or receive the Application ID, your form was not submitted. You must restart the process.

  • Enter all required personal, passport, and travel details accurately;
  • Upload a clear, legible passport bio-page scan (JPEG or PNG, under 2MB);
  • Review all entries and click “Submit” — not just “Save Draft” or “Continue”;
  • Receive an on-screen success message with a unique 12-digit Application ID;
  • See the confirmation email arrive in your inbox (or spam/junk folder) within minutes.

Check your email thoroughly — including spam and filters

Confirmation emails are sent automatically to the address provided during submission. They originate from no-reply@indianvisaonline.gov.in. Many travellers miss them because:

Search your inbox using the terms “India e-Arrival”, “Application ID”, or “indianvisaonline.gov.in”. If found, save the PDF confirmation. If not, proceed to the next step.

  • They land in spam, promotions, or social tabs (especially on Gmail or Outlook);
  • Email filters block messages from unknown senders or those containing links;
  • Typographical errors were made when entering the email address — e.g., gamil.com instead of gmail.com.

Retrieve your Application ID directly from the official portal

You do not need the email to retrieve your e-Arrival status. Visit https://indianvisaonline.gov.in and use the “Track Application Status” function. You’ll need:

This tool will display your Application ID and current status — “Submitted”, “Approved”, or “Under Review”. If no record appears, your application was not processed.

  • Your full name as in your passport;
  • Your passport number;
  • Your date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY format);
  • Your country of passport issuance.

Resubmission is permitted — but timing matters

You may submit a new e-Arrival application at any time before travel — as long as it falls within the official window: within 72 hours before arrival in India. There is no limit on resubmissions, and prior incomplete attempts do not affect eligibility.

However, avoid last-minute submissions. Technical delays, internet interruptions, or file upload failures can occur. Submitting 24–48 hours before departure provides buffer time to resolve issues.

What about our service?

earrivalindia.com is an independent, third-party application service for the India e-Arrival Card. We are not affiliated with the Government of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs, or the official portal. Our role is to assist travellers in preparing and submitting their e-Arrival forms correctly — for a flat fee of $19 per traveller.

We do not issue approvals, control processing times, or access government databases. All submissions go directly to https://indianvisaonline.gov.in, and all confirmations are issued exclusively by that portal. We cannot retrieve lost emails or override technical failures on the official system.

When to contact official support

The official portal offers limited support options:

Support requests must include your Application ID, full name, passport number, and a concise description of the issue. Do not share sensitive data like passport scans via email unless instructed by official channels.

  • “Help” section with FAQs and troubleshooting tips;
  • General inquiry email: helpdesk@indianvisaonline.gov.in (response time is not guaranteed);
  • No phone helpline or live chat is available for e-Arrival queries.

Final verification before travel

At check-in and immigration, airlines and officials require either:

If you resubmitted and received a new Application ID, discard the old one. Only the most recent submission is valid.

  • A printed or digital copy of your e-Arrival confirmation (PDF), showing “Submitted” or “Approved” status; or
  • Your 12-digit Application ID, which officers can verify in real time.

Can I get a refund if my e-Arrival confirmation never arrived?

No. The official portal does not issue refunds for failed email delivery, user error, or technical issues outside its control. If you used a third-party service like ours, review that provider’s refund policy separately — earrivalindia.com does not offer refunds after submission, as our service concludes once the form is successfully transmitted to the official portal.

Is there a way to get the confirmation resent?

No. The official portal does not have a “resend confirmation” function. You must retrieve your Application ID using the “Track Application Status” tool, or resubmit if no record exists.

What if I arrive in India without the confirmation?

You risk being denied boarding or entry. Airlines are required to verify e-Arrival status before allowing check-in. Immigration officers may permit entry only after manual verification — which causes delays and is not guaranteed. Do not assume oral confirmation or prior travel history suffices.

Need your e-Arrival handled for you?

We complete and file your India e-Arrival Card and email it to you within 24 hours - $19.00, independent service.
